The trail climbs gradually above the lake, through a stark, high-mountain landscape . Stones, silence, fresh air, a slightly lunar atmosphere: you could almost believe you're in a mountaineering film… minus the harness. As you ascend, the Moiry Glacier draws closer, sometimes rumbling, and commands respect. This challenging hike requires a good level of fitness but presents no technical difficulties.

Arriving at the cabin: a guaranteed wow effect . Perched facing the glacier, it offers one of the most impressive panoramas in Valais .

Quick tip from Muule : Opt for adjustable trekking poles to save your legs on the climbs, and a neck warmer. to avoid a sore throat on the return trip and a compressible down jacket and insulating to put on during cool breaks.

Muule's little tip : Put on some stretch hiking pants (nothing better for running freely between alpine meadows and small lakes), a breathable technical t-shirt to stay cool even when the trail climbs a bit, and slip some hiking nutrition into your bag (bars, energy puree, or whatever makes your taste buds tingle).
