24 hours outdoor: hiking-refuge at the Tête du Parmelan
Visible from Annecy, the Tête du Parmelan is one of the most popular Sunday trips for Annecy residents. A very good plan to take in the sights in a short time and disconnect 100% from our daily routine as city dwellers.
We recommend leaving on Saturday not too late to enjoy the climb, have a picnic and arrive at the refuge at the end of the day where you can spend the night in a typical mid-mountain atmosphere. Change of scenery guaranteed!
The expedition sheet :
- Suggested departure : Bois Brûlé car park in Villaz (74)
- Access : 2 hours by car from Lyon / 1 hour from Chambéry / 30 minutes from Annecy
- Altitude at starting point : 1,125 m
- Altitude at the summit : 1,832 m
- Required level : No technical pass. “Kids friendly” from 6 years old.
- Duration of the hike : 2 hours with breaks. Allow 2 or 3 hours more with young children, picnic break included.
We loved it :
- The variety of landscapes: forest, limestone plateau, clear summit path…
- The breathtaking 360° view at the summit of Mont Blanc and Lake Annecy
- The night at the shelter which allows you to disconnect
- The initiatory side for the youngest and beginners
Points of vigilance?
- One or two slightly exposed passages where we recommend holding the hands of your youngest children. But nothing insurmountable.
- Reservations strongly recommended for the night in a refuge (on the French Alpine Club website)
